Danny Healy-Rae demands funding for sewer schemes in Kerry

Danny Healy-Rae demands funding for sewer schemes in Kerry

Danny Healy-Rae spoke about people without homes, lack of broadband and towns and villages in Kerry that lack sewer schemes. He demanded organisers, Fine Gael, and the government say where funding will come from, insisting there is no money allocated for local schemes.

Scope of concerns

He raised remote working and people working from home but emphasised the problem for people who haven't a home and those without broadband. He said towns and villages in Kerry are being left behind on basic services.

Missing sewer schemes in about 20 localities

He told Deputy Griffin there are about 20 villages and towns without a sewer scheme. He argued inadequate sewer schemes are preventing people from building houses in those communities.

Challenge over funding and the rural initiative

He criticised the event orchestrated by Fine Gael to praise the government and said there had been "a lot of a hullabaloo about the rural initiative" during the week. He said there is "no money, there's no figure of money" for any scheme or town or village in Kerry and demanded clarity on funding.

Direct appeal to organisers and local representatives

He addressed the chief who organised the event and Deputy Griffin directly, asking them to provide the money and to "come out now and tell us where's the money" for sewer schemes and other local needs in Kerry.

There's a lot to talk about remote working and people working from home, but what about people that haven't a home? What about the people that haven't broadband? And what about the towns and villages in Kerry? And I'll remind the chief here who orchestrated this event by Fine Gael here today to praise the government. But how many, what are you going to do about the towns and villages that have no sewer scheme that people can't build houses? Because the sewer schemes are inadequate. There's about 20 villages and towns, Deputy Griffin, in case they do or not, without a sewer scheme. And I'm asking you now to provide the money, a lot of a hullabaloo about the rural initiative during the week. But there's no money, there's no figure of money for any scheme or town or village in Kerry. Come out now and tell us where's the money? Thank you.
