Danny Healy-Rae Warns Cataract Patients May Lose Belfast Access
Danny Healy-Rae spoke on 10 Nov 2020 about healthcare access and parliamentary procedure, warning that cataract patients may be unable to travel to Belfast after 1 January and saying people in pain are not being seen by the HSE. He criticised duplication in the debate, accused Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil of aligning with Fine Gael, and said a vote to reduce speaking time limited his remarks.
Main concerns
He said the people of Ireland are very disappointed and criticised repeated "duplication" in the proceedings this evening.
Healthcare access
He raised that people in Count Corley will be unable to go to the north to get their eyes, cataracts removed. He said people in pain are not being seen after by the HSE and warned they won't be able to travel to Belfast after the 1st of January.
Parliamentary procedure
He accused Sinn Féin of voting to reduce speaking time, saying that measure left him with only a minute to address the House.
Political alignment
He charged that Sinn Féin knew Fianna Fáil would support Fine Gael in the vote and said the parties were "joined at the heap" and effectively one party only changing its name.
Closing remark
He ended by saying the people of Ireland want to stand for this much longer and stressed his displeasure with how the matter was handled.

The people of Ireland are very disappointed. It's very hot with this duplication here again this evening and when you think of all the things that are wrong in Count Corley and where people won't be able to go to the north now to get their eyes, cataracts removed, people in pain are not being seen after by the HSE and they won't be able to travel to Belfast after the 1st of January. It's very wrong what's going on here tonight Count Corley and you see Sinn Fein know very well that Fianna Fail are going to support Fine Gael here tonight and they're joined at the heap and they're the one party now only just to change the name and you see when he came down to it Sinn Fein voted for to reduce our speaking time here that's why I've only a minute this evening Count Corley But I'm saying to y'all it wants to come on because the people of Ireland want to stand for this much longer. Thank you very much Deputy.
