Mattie McGrath saluted the Gaurdi serving locally and singled out Sargent Gaurdi, Pat Kelly, who retired recently. He stressed that current officers "can't do the work on their own" and need more personnel and support.

He noted that the Gaurdi Commissioner is responsible for recruitment and that the Minister of Justice keeps regular contact on the issue.
