Richard Boyd Barrett proposes applause for frontline health workers
Richard Boyd Barrett proposed that if the sitting runs past eight o'clock members should join a national round of applause for frontline health workers. He urged colleagues to recognise frontline health workers and other frontline workers who are keeping people safe and keeping services running in the current situation.
Proposal details
He put forward a simple proposal that if the meeting overruns and people are still present at eight o'clock they should take part in a national round of applause to honour frontline health workers and other frontline workers.
Timing and contingency
He prefaced the suggestion by noting the sitting was likely to finish before eight, saying that if they do finish on time his proposal would be null and void, but that it should apply if the session continues past eight.
Intended honorees
He specified the applause should be for frontline health workers and other frontline workers "who are keeping us going and protecting us in this current situation," highlighting recognition for those on the front line.
Request for agreement
He invited colleagues to agree to join in the national round of applause if they were still present at eight, indicating a desire for collective recognition during the current circumstances.

I know we're due to probably finish before eight o'clock and if we are well then this my proposal is null and void as it were but if we overrun and there's still people here at eight I understand there's a big call for the applause to be given to the frontline health workers and other frontline workers who are keeping us going and protecting us in this current situation and I think we might agree that if if we're still here at eight that that that we join in in that national round of applause yeah I think
