Danny Healy-Rae warns of Kerry mental health failings after camps
Danny Healy-Rae spoke about mental health services in Kerry, saying they are inadequate and that children were badly wronged at South Kerry camps. He highlighted a two-year waiting list, families left to cope alone, and concerns about accountability as official reports remain outstanding.
He said 250 children were 'badly wronged and mistreated and badly let down' at South Kerry camps and noted that a junior doctor was blamed in that case.
He described children and families being left to their own devices, with some carers unable to go to work because they must mind children around the clock, and he pointed to a waiting list of two years that he called 'not fair or adequate'.
He warned that while a junior doctor was blamed in South Kerry, questions remain about who will be held to account when the story emerges in North Kerry, saying the matter 'is up the line' and that services are not reaching patients.
He argued that people need 'proper help' and not just antidepressants, stressing that a life could depend on timely support and noting that the awaited report has not yet been released.

I wish the board ministers well in their new jobs and Kerry indeed has its fair share of mental health problems and we all know ministers what happened with South Kerry camps and where there was 250 children badly wronged and mistreated and badly let down. Much hasn't changed since in South Kerry and children and families are left to their own devices trying to mind their children all around the clock some of them can't go to work only to stay with their children and there seems to be no way out. There's a waiting list of two years for someone that's that's not fair or adequate at all in this day and age where a life could be just dependent on a bit of help not just antidepressants they need proper help and we're still waiting for the report and not Kerry camps a junior doctor was blamed in South Kerry I wonder who's going to be blamed when the story comes out in North Kerry because it's up the line and we're not getting the proper services down to the patients. Thank you very much.
