I know where this motion comes from, people are under real pressure, energy prices are too high and families and businesses in my constituencies are contacting me daily. So let me start off clearly about the motion of confidence today and why we need a functioning government to bring in these measures and how I heard people across the chamber saying that independents have betrayed the people. In my opinion, betraying the people would be political scoring for a few extra seats for your party and causing disarray of government in the most highly risk of geopolitical that I've ever seen in my life. We need a stable government right now to bring in the financial supports that we brought in tonight and that's something that wasn't relayed to the public. When I was on the phone to people asking for me to vote no confidence, I told them that then the government would not be able to, if it fell, to bring in financial supports and that wasn't relayed by political parties that were screaming for this. There would be no legislation, there would be no reform in our energy system, the private wire legislation that was in the programme for government which would help the Irish people would not be able to progress. Every single solution we're discussing today would not be able to be progressing and without a functioning government, nothing would be happening. No reform in infrastructure, no reform in delivery and the people of Ireland would not benefit. While some people would say that independents are lining their pockets, we are not. We are benefiting our constituents and the people of Ireland by creating a stable government that will benefit them. If the decision today might be seen as bad by my constituents, they will know that it was from the bottom of my heart that I did it for the best reason for them to benefit from financial measures that will come in the coming weeks because we do not know where this current geopolitical situation will go. The vulnerable, the resilient and the building a system that protects Irish people and doesn't expose them. Global instability, the conflict and the attacks on energy, we saw what Trump and Netanyahu have done in the last two days and it needs to be addressed.
