Carol Nolan demands urgent broadband rollout for Lee Shoffley
Carol Nolan criticised the lack of adequate broadband in Lee Shoffley and called for its urgent prioritisation and rollout. She said the shortfall is harming farming families, the self-employed and students, especially those in exam years, and pressed for rapid investment.

She reported being contacted by many frustrated constituents and farming families who have to do most of their business online while children are now engaging in online learning, and described the current broadband provision as not adequate and not good enough.

She acknowledged that the government is committed to the rollout of broadband and to significant investment in Lee Shoffley, not only through just transition but through other measures. She said she will revert to the Minister and relay the issues raised, including concerns about department communications on areas designated within the blue map, and mentioned using state agencies and Borna Mona to channel investment to offely and Lee Shoffley for future economic development.

There is a huge problem with the lack of adequate broadband in Lee Shoffley. I have been contacted by many frustrated constituents and by many farming families who have to do most of their business online and with children at home now trying to engage in online learning and particularly exam years, it is not adequate, it is not good enough and there is a serious problem. Now bearing in mind that Lee Shoffley is undergoing a very unjust transition and that is what I have called it from the start. And bearing in mind that we need to bring in investment into our constituency, this is setting us back and this is putting us on the back foot and I'm calling here today for Lee Shoffley to be prioritised for the proper and effective and efficient rollout of broadband as urgently as possible. First of all the government is very committed to the rollout of broadband, obviously broadband is essential, particularly in terms of enabling people, self-employed and businesses more generally to conduct their work. People working at home, students studying, children studying and the whole nature and importance of connectivity. So I will revert back to the Minister and I will relay what has been said here over the last five to six minutes by deputies and I will relay the issues both in respect of the last point about the communication from the department on areas that are designated within the blue map and so on. And in terms of Lee Shoffley, the government is particularly committed to a very significant investment in Lee Shoffley, not just through just transition, but through other measures and as well and using the state agencies and Borna Mona and others in particular to channel investment to offely and to Lee Shoffley in terms of economic development into the future.
